Kansas City Community Kollel

Kansas City Community Kollel

What is the Kansas City Community Kollel?

After a hiatus in programming following the pandemic, the board of the Kansas City Community Kollel has been actively working to identify Israeli families to live and work in our community to create Jewish programming and a community Beit Midrash.

Over the years, the Kansas City Community Kollel has strived to engage Jews with Judaism and with each other. We bring people together from all backgrounds through the learning of their common values and shared tradition. Through formal classes and study sessions, informal discussions and meetings, and exciting programs and events, the Kollel seeks to bring the beauty and wisdom of Jewish learning and living to the greater Kansas City community.

Community Engagement & Programming

Ahoovim

Founded in 2009 by Nan Kanter and the Kollel, Ahoovim provides monthly programs for adults with special needs. Activities include holiday celebrations, social events, and Jewish learning experiences. The program is expanding to include younger participants.

Community Beit Midrash

This is envisioned to be a communal space, open to all Jewish denominations, to come and study with our Kollel staff or with their peers. Details are being finalized, but it is hoped that this will be located within the campus of the Jewish Community Center.

Israel Engagement

Our shaliach (emissary) family from Israel will devote their time to building our bonds with Israel, Zionism, and Israeli culture.

Communal Programming

The Kollel will partner with organizations, synagogues, and individuals throughout Jewish Kansas City to bring Jewish engagement to life through Shabbat meals, workshops, and custom events.

Kollel Board and Community Oversight

At the heart of the Kansas City Community Kollel is our incredible volunteer board, a group of passionate individuals who generously dedicate their time, energy, and expertise to ensure the success of our mission. Much like the process of baking challah, their work requires patience, dedication, and a love for the community. Each member of our board kneads their unique talents into the fabric of our organization, helping to shape a vibrant and connected Jewish community.
