"Kabbalah classes reveal the truths and answers to mystical phenomenon that we are all experiencing as individuals in this world and the next, and the Kollel's Kabbalah classes have helped me to seek answers to the uniqueness of my own journey."
Rita Kleinman, Poung Professional

"The Community Kollel has completely changed both my life and my fiancee's life. Neither of us had any idea or expectation that we would mee that night at the Kollel. Now we are planning our wedding and we love to look back at that one night that changed our lives. It is remarkable, and if it wasn't for your Shabbat dinners, who knows - we may never have met. The Shabbat dinners provide a relaxed setting which is conducive to meeting other singles."
Trevor and Sybil Hotz, Happily married

"The Community Kollel has done a tremendous job of bringing the Jewish community together in Vancouver.  We don’t have any family in Vancouver so it gives us a place to celebrate Shabbat and Holidays and connects us to the Jewish community. It is a warm and hospitable place where everyone is welcome and we have met many wonderful people at the Kollel.  We look forward to Rabbi Shmulik signing our Ketubah later this year."
Letty Katchen and Andrew Cherry, Young Professional

"Although I was raised in a Jewish household, I never had a terribly strong understanding of Judaism.  After moving to Vancouver, a city wherein I had no connections to the Jewish community, I could feel the gap growing.  This all changed when I began attending classes at the Kollel.  The Kollel offers a warm, friendly, and non-judgmental place to learn about Judaism, from the basics to the teachings of Kabbalah, as well as a place to connect with other Jews in the community."
Jennifer Bergman, Attorney

"About two years ago I moved to Vancouver to study at Emily Carr Being new to a big city meant that I had no contact with the Community. However, with a bit of luck I found the Kollel, and since about a year ago, I have attended many of Kollel’s events and classes and I love it. The experience showed me there is always space to grow with Judaism."
Daniel Elnecave , Fine Arts Student

"The Kollel has been one of the best things that has happened to me. Because it’s such an open community, that I can show up in blue jeans and wearing my Kippah, that everyone accepts me regardless of how much facial hair they have or how long their payess is. We all regard each other as equals and everyone talks and respects each other. You find that when you sit down at a table, everyone is introducing themselves.  For me, the amount of people I have met through Kollel is wonderful. The biggest thing is the sense of community. For me, the Kollel is a place where no matter what is happening on a Friday, it’s a place that I can always go to. It’s a place in Vancouver where I can show up and be known by at least a few people. Over a course of an evening that will change from being known by just a few people to being known by several people because of the way that people interact here and how friendly that is."
Dr. Eric Cadesky, Physician

"The Kollel club is a really great program and anyone who wants to try it definitely should.  Mike and Rivki are leaders that really provide great examples of why the Jewish faith is the way it is. They inspire me to come back every week. They make it interesting, and we learn about how the Jewish faith relates to other religions as well. The stories are really meaningful and pertain to everybody.

There’s great food and we get to sit and talk about important things that we want to talk about - topics relevant to us in our modern world.

When I left Talmud Torah and came to a secular school like St. George’s, I started forgetting a lot and was greatly losing touch with my Judaism. Now we are all learning together. It’s a great opportunity for us, to gather be here with our school friends. Learning Jewish holidays, traditions, and customs is a great chance to meet up with my Jewish friends that I’ve lost touch with from Jewish school and reunite with the community.
